Hello and welcome to my Medium page. I am 18 years old and a Television and Digital Media major at Montclair State University in New Jersey. My interests include baking, listening to music, playing with my Golden Retriver Dax and exploring new places. As the end of my first semester at MSU comes to a close, I have been doing a lot of thinking about my future and what I want to contribute to this world we live in.

My love for television broadcasting grew during my high school experience. I was highly involved with our Television Production department and enjoyed every minute of it. From there I knew I wanted to keep learning and creating content for others to enjoy and learn from. I worked on many short films and music videos that helped foster a creative side of me that I feel has made me a better person.

3/15/2019: “Most Girls — Hailee Steinfeld Student Music Video” directed by Ashleigh Corby and Alison Leach

Here I featured a student music video I co-directed in 2019 for the song “Most Girls” by Hailee Steinfeld. This song has the message that not every girl or woman is the same, but everyone is beautiful in their own way. With this theme we portrayed a few different ways that girls are able to express themselves and be who they are in a positive aspect.

Looking at all Montclair has to offer; I hope to graduate by December of 2023 with a 3.7 GPA or higher with a BA in Television and Digital Media: Production. I have always strived to do well in school and even completed 12 credits during my time in high school. I have done well so far but am preparing for my classes to become more difficult over the next 3 years. I am thankful that the instructors I have had so far have showed me how much support our university has so I can be successful. Before I graduate, I also hope to complete a few internships to gain experience and network, so I feel more prepared heading into my career.

My professional goals in the next 5–10 years include working in the Tri-State area for a broadcasting company either pertaining to news or sports. My overall goal would be to be living and working in NYC for a network such as NBC Universal, ABC, or CBS as a studio director or producer. Being able to tell stories to a larger audience and doing so in a way that is honest and informative is something I believe is very important. I hope that the way I contribute to mass media and the communication industry changes the way that many view it in a negative light. I have found that if mediums are able to be trustworthy and honest, consumers feel more comfortable taking in current events so they can make choices that are right for them.

We studied the idea of having an Ikigai during GNED 199 and it is something I compare to having a mantra to live by. For myself my mantra would be a quote from the 2000s hit TV show Gilmore Girls. The quote said by Richard Gilmore referring to his granddaughter says, “What she tackles, she conquers.” I take this quote with me on every new chapter of life I go through because no matter what, I can conquer anything I attempt to tackle personally or professionally.
